NOTES ABOUT THE GENERAL PROGRAM FOR STUDENTS:
1. Students will attend all their regular classes (8:30AM-3:30PM) at the local High School and be expected to complete ALL assignments/homework as assigned by their teachers.
2. Students will have their daily chores to be performed.
3. Students will be attending the afterschool study hall session for at least 2 hours/day, SUNDAY-THURSDAY.
4. Students will be required to return back to residence before the designated curfew time (Approx. 10PM SUNDAY-THURSDAY, 12AM FRI/SAT.)
5. Students will be required to go to bed by lights out (11PM SUN-THURS, 1AM FRI/SAT.)
6. Visitors of students may only stay in common areas of the residence and are not permitted after curfew hours.
Interested Applicants along with Parents/Guardians should consider ALL the above noted daily life and understand clearly the following rules and conditions before considering the option of applying and attending the program.
PROGRAM RULES AND CONDITIONS
As a student of the Western Arctic Leadership Program, you must agree to the following rules and conditions of the program. Violations will result in the student's immediate return to their home community.
1- There is zero tolerance of possession or use of illegal drugs as a student of the WALP Program. Medicine prescribed by physician is allowed with house parent supervision; this information must be provided without delay.
2 - There is zero tolerance of the consuming of alcohol by program students INCLUDING those who are of legal age.
3 - Violence is not tolerated. There are no exceptions.
4 - Stealing is prohibited. There are no exceptions.
5 - You shall attend school regularly and display an honest effort to succeed academically. Anything less will not be tolerated.
6 - Unauthorized travel is not allowed.
7 - While attending school functions and trips, remember you are representing WALP and that all rules apply.
8 - Absolutely no smoking in the residence or on residence property.

The WALP Board of Directors will require ALL of the following information when screening applications. It is the student's and parent/guardian's responsibility to provide all the necessary information. Any incomplete applications will not be processed.
1 - The completed Application and Medical Form
2 - The Parent/Guardian and Student agreement form
3 - A copy of your final Grade 8 report card and your most recent High School marks. (Please note that we will not be returning any materials to you and therefore you should keep the original of report cards and only send us a copy.)
4 - A letter of recommendation from your school principal or counsellor
5 - A letter of recommendation from a leader in your community.
6 - A letter from you.
7 - A letter from your parents explaining why they want you to attend the leadership program
Application Deadline for the Fall Acceptance is May 30th. Applications may be faxed or emailed, but originals must be sent through post as well.
