INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING AT WALP?

We Are Currently Seeking 2 Volunteers for the Upcoming School Year.

Over the years, we've had a wide variety of tutors from all over the world. We've had tutors from Germany, United States, Lithuania, Barbados, Sri Lanka, Phillipines, and many other places. Of course, we also accept applicants from all over Canada as well.

Why Volunteer? Yes, your role as a volunteer may be demanding but you will have the opportunity to explore a part of the world few have seen. It will be an experience of a lifetime where you will gain valuable skills and knowledge of life in the North and a whole lot more.
Period:
Late August to Mid June
** Free time to travel during school breaks and alternating weekends **

Job Description:
- Evening tutoring for approximately 3 hours/5 Days a Week
- Alternating weekend supervision duties (full residence)
- Actively supervise students and participate on all leadership program trips and camp outings
- Half day assisting at the local High School (Please note that this part of the project is in part with Paul William Kaeser High School (PWK), and your advisor at PWK will be responsible for assigning you your role there.)

Includes:
- Full accomodations provided at the WALP house. Private room with shared facilities.
- Meals/Food (please note: we may not be able to accomodate all dietary specifics and vegetarianism is not common practise in the North.)
- Some transportation costs covered
- Pocket money

Requirements:
- Fluent in English
- Good understanding of education development
- Experience working with teenagers an asset
- Proficient skills in Math and Sciences
- At least 18 years of age, 21+ preferred
- Mature and an open attitude

** Your experiences with the project and living in Fort Smith will depend entirely on your approach within: the WALP house, PWK, and the community. Keep an open mind. Share your ideas. Clean up after yourself. Get involved. Stay active.

*** As this is a Leadership Program, understand that you are expected to be a positive role model to the students of WALP. Any violations of the following may result in your immediate termination and dismissal at your own expense:
- Absolutely no illegal drug use will be tolerated.
- There is no alcohol permitted on residence.
- Visitors need to be permitted by coordinators, since you will be residing within close proximity of the students.
